The Mousetrap 1998
by Agatha Christie
Directed by Josiah Smith
Director's Notes

The Mousetrap is a chilling tale of murder, hidden identity and revenge. All of these things are things any sound-minded individual would readily require in a show. This Agatha Christie murder mystery happens to be the longest running show in history. Its 1952 debut at the Ambassadors Theatre in London starred seasoned actor Richard Attenborough. The play's success provides much of its allure, but the true appeal lies between the lines of the text. The amount of subtle hints suggesting the guilt of each guest is astonishing. The attempt to catch every double entendre, each dark underlying meaning is a difficult task. This, combined with the technical possibilities and eerie mood, made The Mousetrapattractive to its director. "And I'll tell you another thing. The killer's enjoying this. Yes, he's enjoying himself a good deal..."
